Insights - Data Security

Each Insights user has access to data defined by Maximizer Web Access security on the record level. Security corresponds to ‘Read Access’ permissions.
Column level security for User-Defined Fields does not apply to Insights. Dashboard designers have access to all UDFs added to Insights, but only for the records they are allowed to see.

By default, only basic fields are accessible in Insights.

Basic fields in Insights follow ‘Read Access’ permissions set up in Maximizer Web Access.

For example, if only one user (John) has 'Read Access' to opportunity 2, other users (Alice, in the example below) can't see this opportunity. In Insights, as in Web Access, only John sees this record.

Maximizer Admins can enrich Insights data models with UDFs.

One set of UDFs will be available for the whole data base. Adding/removing UDFs in Insights will affect all designers and viewers.

To make User-Defined Fields accessible for Insights, a Web Access admin must have at least 'Read Access' rights to these fields. To hand pick, go to Insights > Settings.

Designers have access to all UDFs added to Insights for the records they are permitted to see.

When a UDF is added to Insights, additional security rules that could be applied to this UDF in WebAccess won't be applied in Insights.

For example, if John has 'Read or Full Access' to UDF 1 and UDF 2 and Alice only has access to UDF 1, Alice can still see UDF 2 in Insights.

Thus, in WebAccess, Alice can't see UDF 2 value for Opportunity 1, but in Insights she can.
